The DELTA project partners contribute with the scientific paper “Digital Applications in archaeological education and excavation training: the DELTA course”, to the 14th annual International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation (ICERI) which will be organized virtually, due to the unstable situation of COVID, on the 8th – 9th of November, 2021. This publication will be included in ICERI2021 Proceedings.
The paper presents the results of the research, online and desk, aiming at recording the existing situation in the three countries regarding: (1) the use of digital applications in archaeological excavations, (2) current courses on excavation practices, methods and techniques and (3) the use of digital educational tools in such courses. This research provided the necessary evidence for the design and development of the DELTA blended training course that combines the use of an online platform with face to face and on-site learning in a joint excavation.
