Hybrid International Conference “Digital Transformation of Archaeology”

DAISSy Research Group of Hellenic Open University (HOU) invites you to attend the hybrid International Conference on the theme “Digital Transformation of Archaeology”. The Conference is supported by project DELTA and will take place on Saturday, 4th June 2022 at the Electra Palace Hotel, Athens (it will start at 10.00 EEST). You can join the Conference in person or online. The language of the Conference is English.
The Conference will include the presentation of the outcomes and achievements of project DELTA and will provide an open platform for discussing the most recent innovations, trends and concerns, as well as practical challenges and digital solutions adopted in archaeology and excavation. The state of the art regarding the profile of archaeologist in each partner country, the education and upskilling of the future archaeologists as well as the digital tools and infrastructure used for excavation and archaeological issues, are some of the topics that will be addressed.
The Conference is addressed to professionals, educators, researchers and practitioners in the fields of archaeology, digital education and vocational education, as well as training providers, decision makers in education and culture, representatives of municipalities and cultural associations.

Project DELTA – Digital Excavation through Learning and Training in Archaeology is funded under the program Erasmus + / KA2 / Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education. The project is coordinated by the DAISSy research group of the Hellenic Open University and is implemented by a consortium of universities from three countries (Department of History and Archaeology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens - Greece, Department of European and Mediterranean Cultures: Architecture, Environment, Cultural Heritage (DiCEM), University of Basilicata - Italy and Department of Archaeology and Museology of the Masaryk University - Czech Republic). Project DELTA developed a Massive Open Online Course addressed to students and teachers of Archaeology that combines the physical space of an archaeological excavation with the digital space of online learning.
